Newsletter 1st Term 2017

Welcome to The Music Tree. I hope you have all enjoyed the summer and are ready for a fun filled year of music.

 Dates & Accounts

First term will consist of 9 lessons and commences on Friday February 10th and concludes on Thursday April 13th. Easter break and the 1st term school holiday starts on Friday April 14th.

Payment details are on the bottom of your invoice, please use your name and the term being paid for, eg T1, as a reference.

Students in the keyboard/piano or guitar classes have been billed for books or other materials that will be given out during the term, if you have older siblings who already have the books then I haven’t billed you for anything that can be reused, if you are unsure or want an itemized list of books on your account just email me.

Lesson Times

Your lesson details are on your invoice, unless you are enrolled in the baby class in which case your lesson is on Friday at 9.30am and costs $7.00 per week per family, or $50 if you want a discount by paying for the term up front.

If there is any reason you won’t be attending or need to change times please let me know ASAP as there are people waiting to get into some of the classes.

Classes continue to be held at the Punchbowl Christian Centre, 100 Punchbowl Road.

Start Times

Please try to ensure that you arrive a couple of minutes early for your class especially if you haven’t been before, the opening part of the 1st lesson is specially designed to help your child feel comfortable in their new environment. Children 4 years old and under must have an adult present for the entire lesson.

It is preferable that parents of the 5-8 year old keyboard and guitar players stay and watch if possible as this gives you the opportunity to help your child both in the class and at home.

Weekly Sheets

Follow us on Facebook and each week I will post the words to a song or rhyme we have done in class. If you enjoy your class please take a moment to review us.

Instrumental Students

Guitar students need a working guitar of appropriate size, please bring this with you to class.

Keyboard students need an instrument to practice on at home, I have instruments for use during class.

We need your support: please come and join us for our fully interactive shows, Saturday Feb 11th at 1.30pm and 4.30pm in the Kids Kingdom area.

Welcome Sheet

Please read through the welcome sheet on the Facebook page or the News page of our web site to find out what to expect and how to get the most out of your class.

Successful learning occurs in many small steps rather than one big step, singing the songs and rhymes we learn in class at home will help your child to participate as fully as possible. There is no such thing as too much repetition. One of the ideas behind The Music Tree was that it would give parents a range of new repertoire to share with their children, so you won’t necessarily know all the songs when you first attend. We also aim to show you new and creative ways to use the songs that you are already familiar with. If you ever have any questions about the program please ask.

Tea & Coffee

Help yourselves to hot drinks and water, the milk is in the fridge, but please wash your cup afterwards. Lollies are 50 cents.

The church kindly allows us to use the playroom next to the kitchen but ask that you please tidy up any mess your children have made when you are finished.

Cancellation and Absentee Policy

Missed lessons will not be refunded, but a make up lesson may be done on another day if there is availability in a different class. All make up lessons must be taken within the term with a maximum of 3 make up lessons each term. If you are in one of the keyboard or guitar classes you can e-mail me to find out which pages of the book we covered.

If lessons are cancelled within the first two weeks of booking, no cancellation fee applies, but those two lessons must be paid for. However, after this period, a booking and administration fee of $30 will be incurred in addition to the fees for lessons up to the time of cancellation. All cancellations must be to Tonya either in person, by phone or e-mail.

If you need to contact me at any time I’m available on my mobile 0407344107 (leave a message, I don’t answer the phone while I’m teaching), or email or private message me through FB.
